Kimmy Kirkwood & Will Stacey's Love Story

The social media giant, Facebook, marked its tenth anniversary yesterday.

Big deal, you say?  It's just a place for people to go online and post the silly and sometimes significant happenings of their life?

Yes.  That's exactly it.  Facebook is the world's largest social network, connecting 1.23 billion people to each other and Kimmy Kirkwood is especially grateful that on Facebook she can find a priceless record of pictures and status updates she had with the love of her life, a Marine named Will Stacey.

Will Stacey posting to Kimmy Kirkwood: "Regardless, I continue to love you like a fat kid loves cake."

Come on.  Who could resist such a romantic thought, right?

Kirkwood and Stacey planned to marry but in the last year of Stacey's deployment to Afghanistan in January 2012, he was tragically killed by an explosive device while on patrol.

Facebook has changed forever the way that people around the world stay in touch with each other but more significantly it has also changed the way that people grieve and remember the precious time they spent with their loved ones.

"Sometimes when I am lonely, I go back and read everything he sent me," Kimmy writes.  "I didn't think about it much then, but having it all in one place took on a complete new meaning when I lost Will forever."

Here is the sweet story of Kimmy Kirkwood and Will Stacey that was featured on BuzzFeed:

Texting, Texting, Texting

You can file today's post under the category of silly -- but true!

It's a slice of life that may be about to arrive in a community near you.

Seeing. Eye. People.

That's right.  Seeing Eye People.

A Seeing Eye Person In Action
As in: hold on to me (a person, not a dog) and I will guide you and be your eyes while you continue to walk and text.

The idea of offering Seeing Eye People as a service is performed by Improv Everywhere & BuzzFeed as a bit of street comedy but it not that far fetched.

Every day in DC, there is either someone texting and walking right into me or others or there is someone on a crowded sidewalk walking slowly and texting at the same time, gridlocking the pedestrian traffic.  Incidents of people texting and walking out into traffic and getting hit by cars, tripping and bumping in buildings and people has also skyrocketed across the U.S.

My son just told me about this concept and I had to Google it right away to see what this whole thing was all about.  Watch it for yourself and see.  Please notice that the people who are walking and texting continue to text and walk  as though this is perfectly normal.  It's the reaction of other people watching that's so funny!

Cheers!

28 Cats

Okay.  I admit it.  I have a totally silly side and ridiculous pictures of cats and dogs crack me up.

This post may seem random to you but it's not.  It's humor therapy!  Smiles and laughter can help us heal.  Scientists report that laughter changes our brain chemistry and boosts our immune system.

We have to be able to laugh at ourselves and at humorous situations.  If we can't find the funny side of life, then we're in trouble.

My wonderful son found this on buzzfeed.com and thought it was hysterical; which it is!!

In fact, I would really love it if you would comment below and tell me which is your favorite among the crazy, wacky cat pictures!

Here's my favorite:
