Dance Walking

I don't know about you, but now that the weather is getting a little warmer and I'm shedding my layers of winter, I'm feeling way out of shape.

Too much time spent sitting in front of the computer.  Too many afternoons noshing on comfort food.

A new season means moving is the name of the game for me and I think this You Tube video below showing how to Dance Walk is the perfect way to kickstart some outdoor motion and burning off those almighty calories!

Even if you don't need to tone up, check out this Dance Walk video because it's fun and we all need to find something that makes us feel fabulous by the end of the week, right?

A Happier Friday!

Something as simple as the day of the week can make me happy.

I didn't even work five days this week because Washington, DC got so much snow on Monday that the federal government shutdown, the buses weren't running and I had the day off.

Still, today is Friday and that feels great.  The grind of this week is almost over and the weekend is within sight.

Friday evening is one of the best feelings in the world, don't you think? You've just finished working through one work week and now the whole incredible weekend is in front of you.  Have you ever noticed how happy everyone is on Friday evening when they are leaving their offices?

It's as though the principal rang the bell at school and announced "Recess!" I swear if I could bottle that Friday evening feeling I would make a ton of money.

So embrace your fabulous Friday feeling and, better still, keep it going as long as possible.  Maybe you have plans to do something today you wouldn't do on any other day of the week!  Lighten up and spend some time playing.

Friday.  As Pharrell Williams sings in his infectious hit song, "Happy," I feel like a room without a roof. . . .

Freezing Friday

Wow!! What a week!

Between the snow, the ice and the polar vortex of winds hitting the Washington, DC area, it's seems as though it's been a battle of the elements every day.  Fashion has definitely gone by the wayside and staying warm is the priority.  Sometimes the sun is out but I'm not feeling too much difference in the temperature.

I am not really a winter person at all but this chilly cold season does teach me to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.  I can't change it so I've got to go with it and get on the other side of it.

I try to look at it as another lesson in a different kind of resilience.  As in: I can't control what Mother Nature decides to bring to my area of Planet Earth but I can control my response to her events.

Snow People Visiting The U.S. Capitol

I can stare and curse at the frozen snowy icy car or I can go out and start it, warm it up and start clearing it off.  It's all about taking a deep breath and just doing it.  And that's when I put one pair of gloves inside another pair of gloves and the same with socks.  It's the only way to make sure my fingers and toes stay warm and toasty.  I don't know about you but if my hands and feet get cold, I'm a goner.  I just can't take it.

So for those of you in warm and tropical climates, I wish I were there with you.  But seeing as I am not, I will be dealing with my Freezing Friday, staying bundled up and taking it a step at a time.

Way To Go

It's Fabulous, Fantastic, Friday and I know you are as happy about this as I am!

By the end of the work week, everyone needs a nice pat on the back.

Try saying one nice thing, one kind thing to someone you know or even a stranger
 and see what happens...............

JOY!!!

I love, love this song, "Take Back The Night," because is has a funky, old school sound that gets you movin' and groovin'.  Dancing always makes me feel better about life and moving forward and I bet the same things happens for you too, right?

Plus the video is filmed in my favorite city!!!!!

28 Cats

Okay.  I admit it.  I have a totally silly side and ridiculous pictures of cats and dogs crack me up.

This post may seem random to you but it's not.  It's humor therapy!  Smiles and laughter can help us heal.  Scientists report that laughter changes our brain chemistry and boosts our immune system.

We have to be able to laugh at ourselves and at humorous situations.  If we can't find the funny side of life, then we're in trouble.

My wonderful son found this on buzzfeed.com and thought it was hysterical; which it is!!

In fact, I would really love it if you would comment below and tell me which is your favorite among the crazy, wacky cat pictures!

Here's my favorite:

Happy Friday!

I'm feeling better as I recouperate from the cold and cough that kicked in at the beginning of the week so thank you for your good thoughts.  Plus it's Friday so that automatically doubles the goodness!

I hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend and even if you don't have any specific activity planned, quiet time can be good and so essential in building up mental reserves.  Or maybe I'm thinking of my own need for peace and quiet and restful times.

As we work our way through Friday and slide into the weekend, here's a beautiful poem I found on The Silver Pen (www.thesilverpen.com):
